Feminist Disney, What do you think about most people, especially here on tumblr, that want the next disney princess to be gay, are straight girls? I personally find it fetishizing and simply an extension of how homosexuality is portrayed in the media already. I don’t think everybody would be so willing to jump at the idea or a lesbian prince or a trans* princess. Obviously this is a generalisation and any queer representation in disney at all would be a step forward.

I guess I’m on the fence.  I get what you’re saying.  I’m glad so many people are supportive of it, but yeah, I think for some people it might be an… extension of the portrayals they’re most comfortable with viewing, so those are the portrayals they push for the most/are the “best” at being allies about in terms of support. 

  IDK though because I can’t think of any specific commentary that has really been fetishizing, off the top of my head, and I don’t want to just broadly assume everyone supports for the worst reasons.   I think a lot of straight girls just legitimately want to support and help and I think most girls tend to identify more with princesses and lesbians than with princes and gay guys, so it’s what they end up pushing for.   I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing
