There’s this show called “Guys With Kids” that’s supposed to go on NBC this fall. Here’s a promotional poster

It’s supposed to be a comedy about, you guessed it, guys with kids! Because there’s nothing funnier than reinforcing that men are bad with children or that it’s inherently funny, right? 

So, with this, I propose a new show to NBC called “Women in CEO positions.” Or what about “Gays in Construction Work” ? 

Recently wrote a thesis about the depictions of fathers in television.

It is sad that in 2012 we still think of it as hilarious or noteworthy when men act as caregivers (not just “babysitters”, which is silly when men are reffered to as babysitting their own children!) for their children. Yes, studies show that women do the majority of childcare work. But to suggest that it is funny when men do step up and do, you know, what should be expected of them, is only reinforcing that it isn’t what is expected of them (taking care of their children).
